At 4 meters per second the gondolas rattle from the valley station to an altitude of 1,640 meters. For almost 40 years, up to 2,400 people per hour have been transported up the mountain in this way. Two groups of four people sit opposite each other in the gondola. A community of fate for 13 minutes. What if this community were involved in a game? What if they became aware of each other and of what was rushing past them? A lot has happened since the first lift ride, which was ceremoniously opened with speeches and a brass band. A ski circus that continues to surpass itself? How will it withstand the changing times? How far into the future can we look?
Helgard Haug (DE) is an author, director, and co-founder of the theater label “Rimini Protokoll.”
The focus of her work is on enabling multiple perspectives on our reality. She transposes spaces or social structures into theatrical formats and vice versa. In addition, many of her works are characterized by interactivity and a playful approach to technology. Productions take place both in the independent scene and in state theaters, museums, and festivals.

4 Meter pro Sekunde rattern die Gondeln von der Talstation auf 1640 Meter Höhe. Seit fast 40 Jahren können so bis zu 2.400 Personen pro Stunde hoch auf den Berg befördert werden. In der Gondel sitzen sich 2 mal 4 Personen gegenüber. Eine Schicksalsgemeinschaft für 13 Minuten. Was, wenn diese Gemeinschaft in ein Spiel verwickelt wird? Sich wahrnimmt und das wahrnimmt über das sie wegrauscht? Seit der ersten Liftfahrt, die mit Reden und Blasorchester feierlich eröffnet wurde, erste viel geschehen. Ein Skizirkus, der sich immer weiter selbst übertrumpft? Wie hält dies dem Wandel der Zeit stand? Wie weit geht der Blick in die Zukunft?
Helgard Haug ist Autorin, Regisseurin und Mitbegründerin der Theaterlabels "Rimini Protokoll".
Der Fokus ihrer Arbeit liegt auf der Ermöglichung multipler Perspektiven auf unsere Realität. Sie transponiert Räume oder soziale Strukturen in theatrale Formate und umgekehrt. Darüber hinaus zeichnen sich viele ihrer Arbeiten durch Interaktivität und einen spielerischen Umgang mit Technologie aus.
Produktionen finden sowohl in der freien Szene als auch in staatlichen Theatern, Museen und Festivals statt.
