Auf der Jagd nach Schnee - students of the Angewandte Vienna (Social Design)
All projects have been conceptualized in cooperation with the Social Design Studio based at the University of Applied Arts Vienna. The studio projects relate to the consequences of urbanization in rural areas as well as with the challenges and potentials of a booming touristic industry which is nevertheless being affected by conditions of crisis. The village center will be activated and turned into a new (and old) anchor point in Flachau.
The master's programme of Social Design at the University of Applied Arts addresses the challenges posed by a changing urban social system and all its related issues. Currently, more than half of the world's population already lives in cities - this densification of population, economy, capital, and media, as well as culture and knowledge, places disproportionate demands on spatial and social structures. New concepts are required that deal with these spaces and their inherent dynamics. Social Design students generate these concepts to address the changing urban spaces and their dynamics artistically and in a research-oriented manner.
